El Nivel de Fashion/Level Headed Fashion
Whether you’re a lollipop or a pear, understanding your body shape is essential for looking hot in the latest trends this winter, in fact all year round.
Fashion changes faster than BeyoncĂ© changes outfits at her concerts. Unfortunately, the women who constantly struggle to follow the latest trends rarely look like they’ve just walked off the catwalk but more like fashion victims. For example, wet look leggings have been a phenomenon in the West. However, I would like to state not all should invest in them, as they are more suitable to those who have long slim legs, than those who are lagging behind in the leg department.
Which leads me onto fashion’s overlooked sibling, style. In the pursuit of attempting to look fashionable people often forget about style.
Whereas fashion is forever changing, style is timeless. It’s about incorporating fashion trends into your wardrobe and then adding your personal touch to it.
Essentially, fashion and style are about knowing yourself. Or, as I like to put it ‘knowing your level’! Many people wonder “huh, level”!? By this I mean knowing your vital statistics: body shape, size, stature, complexion just to mention a few factors. I consider these things important when selecting the right clothes for yourself, whether you’re model thin, slender, curvaceous or voluptuous. Body shape is important because this will primarily decide whether a garment looks awful or amazing. I discovered this many years back when discussing it with a friend. She said that she has to buy long vests because she has a longer upper body and some vests don’t come down far enough. Personally, I know that I have a longer upper body and a shorter lower half. Therefore, my torso is long but my legs are slightly shorter. This highlights the issue of proportions, every human being is unique in that no one has the same proportions, and therefore what may look good on one person doesn’t necessarily fit another.
I am aware that many high street retailers now cater for "tall" "petite" etc. However it is not enough for the retailers to have a section dedicated to you (assuming you fall into any of these categories), if you're fashion/style conscious and want to always put your best foot forward, you need to do a self analysis and work out what works and what doesn't. I feel it is important to know your body shape in order to know what compliments you.
So next time your shopping and you ask yourself those rhetorical questions and you're second guessing yourself remember 'know your level', stick to it and you're guaranteed to be a "SHOWSTOPPER".
Besos,
B.L.E xoxo
Nice piece love.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing for me is to see trends and styles and pieces but dont copy everything like you rightly say we are all beautifully different and should make sure that we stay true to ourselves and our bodies. One must wear your clothes don't let your clothes wear you and make it your own! Only then will your character and everything else will shine through.
Bisous... A
Es i luv dis,
ReplyDeletewell done BOSS lady..lol (IMAgine!..;).
somethng like dis was much needed and anticipated mehn!gud a hve a place 4 discussion where ders common groun: ).
but yh i c where ur cming 4rm but its funny because da simple truth is ppl knw der body and knw the person wearing an outfit dey like/wana wear hasnt got da same body shape as dem but dey still go out and buy dat same outfit with a carbon copy combination..lol
DNT GET me wrong!! to be honest i thnk we are all a lil guilty of dis but i thnk it jus starts with us taking a step back and looking at those celeb's if u wish or ppl generally, who have a similar body shape to u-taking note of how der outfits suit der bodies. Dnt hve2 use da same colurs or textures as dem but use da combination of inspire ur personal style which as es says complements
" UR LEVEL"!!!!!lol

Madame Efizzy! Well done! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the above and found myself shouting out "Exactly!" at several of the points you made (u already know this as we are skying like right now!)
ReplyDeleteAs a person with longer legs than upper body, I too must be extremely conscious of the trousers and skirts I chose to wear (for fear of being labelled an ankle swinger mama or hoochy in a beltsized skirt; it's a hard life mehn!) Given the fact that I prefer the simple and understated in comparison to the big and bashy apparel of this world, the trick is to marry all of this together. Knowing your level is ESSENTIAL: if you don't wanna get lost in the constantly changing labyrinth of fashion trends, where at any given event/party you're bound to find at least two babes donning the same asos frock, then adopting, establishing and developing your personal style, and perhaps even adding one or two items which are currently in vogue, will make you a cut above the rest. Failing that however, a pair of Louboutins wouldn't go a miss... lol.
