New Year & New Creativity......

January 2010 feeling inspired?! Stand up and stand out! (In a good way)

We usually hear people say, "fashion is always repeating itself" however I beg to differ I feel fashion encourages variety and spontaneity! Whilst researching for this particular piece I came across a unique lady who possesses class, sophistication and most importantly style to name a few! *smiles* I will refer to her in detail further on, as I feel there is a lot to observe and learn about her style.

Well 2009 we saw what I would describe as "fashion cloning" everyone wore similar or even the same item of clothing's, emulating mannequins is what I would say, this is in fact was very sad and highly annoying, because you can be truly creative if you dare to incorporate variety in your wardrobe, playing it safe and conforming is boring....it's time to personalise your style.

You can reflect who you are through your clothes and even if you don't like bright colours, that doesn't matter, you can make an all black outfit look less dull if you add some cool, chic accessories.

Creativity is key in 2010, whether it be with your accessories: make-up, belts, brooches, hats, shoes, bags and jewellery to name a few. A strong example of someone who oozes creativity and style is Shala Monroque; she is being labelled "girl of the month" (pictured above) she is a fashion writer and editor- one of the key elements in her style is simplicity with a touch of creativity, she doesn't over do any outfit she wears.

I feel there is much to acquire from Shala, she takes what I would describe as "sensible risks". Although most of her pieces are designer you don't have to buy a Herve Leger dress or Jimmy Choos, it's vital to work with what you have and respect your bank balance at the same time.(wouldn't want anyone going to extreme measures for designer goods) High street clothes can also be made to look chic and elegant.

Like I mentioned in the previous article, we are all individuals and thus have different body shapes, sizes etc. It is vital to discover what works best for you.

So 2010 don't play it safe with your fashion ideas and buys, dare to be a 'tad' bit different and you never know someone could be admiring you and you might even inspire someone else! *big smile*

Un abrazo y besitos mis amigos,

El nivel de fashion

El Nivel de Fashion/Level Headed Fashion

Whether you’re a lollipop or a pear, understanding your body shape is essential for looking hot in the latest trends this winter, in fact all year round.

Fashion changes faster than BeyoncĂ© changes outfits at her concerts. Unfortunately, the women who constantly struggle to follow the latest trends rarely look like they’ve just walked off the catwalk but more like fashion victims. For example, wet look leggings have been a phenomenon in the West. However, I would like to state not all should invest in them, as they are more suitable to those who have long slim legs, than those who are lagging behind in the leg department.

Which leads me onto fashion’s overlooked sibling, style. In the pursuit of attempting to look fashionable people often forget about style.

Whereas fashion is forever changing, style is timeless. It’s about incorporating fashion trends into your wardrobe and then adding your personal touch to it.

Essentially, fashion and style are about knowing yourself. Or, as I like to put it ‘knowing your level’! Many people wonder “huh, level”!? By this I mean knowing your vital statistics: body shape, size, stature, complexion just to mention a few factors. I consider these things important when selecting the right clothes for yourself, whether you’re model thin, slender, curvaceous or voluptuous. Body shape is important because this will primarily decide whether a garment looks awful or amazing. I discovered this many years back when discussing it with a friend. She said that she has to buy long vests because she has a longer upper body and some vests don’t come down far enough. Personally, I know that I have a longer upper body and a shorter lower half. Therefore, my torso is long but my legs are slightly shorter. This highlights the issue of proportions, every human being is unique in that no one has the same proportions, and therefore what may look good on one person doesn’t necessarily fit another.

I am aware that many high street retailers now cater for "tall" "petite" etc. However it is not enough for the retailers to have a section dedicated to you (assuming you fall into any of these categories), if you're fashion/style conscious and want to always put your best foot forward, you need to do a self analysis and work out what works and what doesn't. I feel it is important to know your body shape in order to know what compliments you.

So next time your shopping and you ask yourself those rhetorical questions and you're second guessing yourself remember 'know your level', stick to it and you're guaranteed to be a "SHOWSTOPPER".

Besos,

B.L.E xoxo
